Prohibited Items-kentuck festival

Can I bring my pet?
Pets are not allowed at The Kentuck Festival of
the Arts.

This includes emotional support animals. Only service animals are permitted.

Under federal law, service animals are dogs or miniature horses trained to perform tasks for people with disabilities. Dogs, pets, and other animals whose sole function is to provide comfort, companionship, or emotional support do not qualify as service animals. Misrepresenting your pet as a service animal negatively impacts the quality of life and independence for service animal users. Under Alabama law, it is illegal to fraudulently misrepresent your pet as a service animal. For more information, please click here.

Is the location of the Kentuck Festival different this year?

This year, the Kentuck Festival has a NEW location: Snow Hinton Park at 1000 Hargrove Road East, Tuscaloosa, AL 35405. Less than 5 miles from Kentuck Art Center and centrally located in the Tuscaloosa area, this park has recently undergone renovations to provide accessible pathways and new restrooms, allowing those with mobility challenges to safely navigate the park, and more than two-thirds of the 270+ artists to have their booths along a paved path.

How much are tickets or VIP packages? Where can I get them?

Where do I park my car?

This year, the Kentuck Festival will have more parking than ever. All general admission parking is located on the North side of Snow Hinton Park, between the park and University Mall. The accessible parking lot is closest to the front gate, and a hangtag or license plate permit will be required. There will be plenty of folks out there to help with traffic flow and to guide you to a parking spot. Parking is either a short walk to the front gate or you can catch a free shuttle in the University Mall parking lot.

Staying in downtown Tuscaloosa? The City of Tuscaloosa Trolley is providing a free shuttle from the Intermodal Parking Facility to Snow Hinton Park. Intermodal Facility address: 2230 7th Street.

PLEASE do not park on the Midtown Village side of McFarland Blvd. It’s not safe to walk across McFarland Blvd in that area, and the shuttle does not visit that side of the road. Please respect our neighbors and do not park in neighborhoods. Thank you!

If you have a Benefactor VIP parking pass, you may park on the Hargrove Road side of the park. This parking lot is first come, first served. Please enter the festival through the back gate.

I bought tickets online. Do I have to stand in the regular ticket line to get a wristband?

No! If you bought tickets online, please make your way to the separate Will Call tent near the front gate of the park. Our friendly volunteers will scan your tickets and give you a wristband. Again: Will Call is ONLY at the front gate, NOT at the back gate.

Are there activities for children?

The Kentuck for Kids section of the Kentuck Festival allows children to engage their hands and their imagination as they explore their creativity. A variety of Kentuck for Kids activities give children an oppurtunity to experiment with new materials, techniques, colors, textures and shapes and get their hands dirty! The Kentuck for Kids area will be located in-between booths B-28 and B-30. Birdhouse making will be with The Woodworkers Association of West Alabama, in booths B-26, B-28. You can expect tie dye, paper marbling, book arts, face painting, clay, Chinese calligraphy, building birdhouses, and a musical petting zoo. All of the listed activities are free, with the exception of tie dye - you can tie dye a bandana for free, and tie dyeing a t-shirt is $5. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Children 12 & under get in free with an adult ticket purchase.

Do you accept credit cards?

Yes! Kentuck accepts all major credit cards. However, individual artists have their own forms of credit card processing and may have their own restrictions.

Where can I get t-shirts?
T-shirts and other Kentuck branded merchandise will be sold at the Kentuck T-Shirts and More tent on Row E near the front of the park.

What if it rains?
Kentuck Festival of the Arts is a rain or shine event. Don’t let a little rain deter you from having a great time!
Should the weather become dangerous, the Tuscaloosa Police Department is on site to help staff make decisions regarding the evacuation of the park. Safety is our priority.

Will Kentuck’s Gallery Shop be open during the Festival?
No, Kentuck's Gallery Shop will be closed October 19-2o. Thanks for understanding!

I / my friend / family member uses a wheelchair or mobility aid. How accessible is the park?

More than 2/3 of all artists' booths are located along a newly paved path, and the others are located very close to a paved path. There are benches throughout the park, new restrooms with accessible stalls, and a parking lot specifically designated for accessible parking next to the front gate. Click here to see the festival map.

Why did the 53rd Kentuck Festival of the Arts move locations?

The previous location, Kentuck Park (and the dozens of acres surrounding it) is being developed into a large sportsplex called Northport Shore and will be under construction for an undetermined amount of time. Kentuck’s Board of Directors made the difficult decision to move the 53rd Kentuck Festival to continue to provide the best festival experience to artists, guests, concessionaires, and volunteers. See prior press statements here (11/30/23), here (12/20/23), and here (2/22/24).

How do artists get into the show?

Artists apply to the festival between March 1 and June 2, 2024. They are required to provide 3 images of their work (one of which must have been created in the last calendar year), a photo of their booth, and a few statements about their process. After applications close, they are sent to jury. Our jurors change each year and are arts professionals from around the country. Selection and acceptance into the Kentuck Festival of the arts is based entirely on those jury scores. Visit www.kentuck.org/artists-apply for more information.
